My recent stay at this Airbnb exceeded all expectations. The host was superb, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort, and always available to assist with any queries. The property itself boasts a lovely garden, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation, and the interior was very comfortable. It’s fully equipped, leaving nothing to be desired, from kitchen necessities for those who need to cook, to a washing machine and dryer, ensuring a hassle-free stay. Entertainment is covered with TV and Wi-Fi. Located in a semi-remote area, yet access to Ypres is incredibly straightforward, either by car or bus. Bars, a takeaway, and a restaurant within a short walk. A standout feature is the unique 24 hour ‘vending machine’ shop located just 10 minutes away on foot, offering an array of essentials and more, surpassing traditional shops in both novelty and selection from fresh flowers, cakes, milk, and ready made meals. Not what I expected from a vending machine. Top quality.

Un bon moment passé dans cette magnifique maison de campagne, Rita nous a accueilli chaleureusement. La maison ne manque de rien, tout est prévu pour faire plaisir aux hôtes et qu’ils se sentent bien. Nous avons apprécié les équipements pour bébé (chaise haute, jouets, lit…) C’est avec plaisir que nous reviendrons!

Rita was friendly and welcoming. We were shown through the house and everything was straightforward. It was the first time I had come across an induction hob but it was easy enough to figure out. There is also off-road parking behind locked gates which is a bonus. Merkem seemed an ideal spot to stay for touring the nearby battlefields. Poperinge & Langemark are within easy reach and Ieper is only about 10 minutes down the road. All in all, quite happy to have stayed at Het Margrietje.

Fijn huis vooral de serre had meer waarde veel informatie over de omgeving. Rita gaf goede inlichtingen ove de winkels in het dorp. Erg vriendelijke ontvangst. We zijn hier met plezier geweest. Een grote pluim! Enige nadeel voor ons was het douchen in bad.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez Rita ! Le logement est parfaitement équipé et la literie y est très confortable ! Encore merci pour ce super séjour !

Rita est une hôte très chaleureuse et attentionnée. Le logement est très accueillant, grand et propre. Le jardin est vraiment très joli et nous y avons passé un agréable moment en compagnie de nos deux chiens. Nous ne sommes restés qu’une seule nuit mais c’est avec plaisir que nous reviendrons.

Rita is een zeer gastvrije verhuurder die zorgvuldig het gebruik van het huis heeft geïntroduceerd en ervoor heeft gezorgd dat je je thuis voelde, het huis is zeer schoon, comfortabel en netjes, rustig, en de eieren zijn ook erg lekker, bedankt Rita, we komen terug als we de kans hebben!

Het is een prima huis dat in het echt nog groter is dan het op de foto’s lijkt. De tuin is enorm groot en omheind en ideaal voor honden. De gastvrouw woont naast het huis maar zorgt ervoor dat je volledige privacy hebt. Een echte aanrader; naar de kust is het 30 minuten en je zit op 15 minuten van Ieper en Diksmuide. Amazing place, it has everything you need and even more, if you really want to enjoy you must stay more than one night just to be able to explore this lovely place. Definitely will recommend this place and hopefully come back soon for extended weekend. Thanks for everything Rita.

séjour pour le boulot parfait, Rita est très compliante. sa maison est super propre avec un grand jardin pour les chiens. on y trouve tout ce qu’il nous faut. je recommande

Rita is the perfect guest ! She was very reactive as we changed our arrival time last minute, and was nevertheless here to great us on our arrival quite late. She welcomed us very kindly and showed us the house. She offered eggs from her hens. The house is very comfortable, spacious, and well equiped. Only little downside for me sensitive to that, a sligth residual tobaco smell.

Mooie omgeving en ideaal gelegen als uitvalpunt voor het bezoek van Ieper en de historische kant van de Westhoek en de Franse grens en natuur.

Het Margrietje is een prachtig vakantiehuis en we voelden ons heel erg welkom. Het huis was heel erg netjes en we genoten van de grote tuin en het jaren 60 interieur! Alles wat nodig kon zijn, was aanwezig. Ook heerlijke opgemaakte bedden! In één woord TOP!

Het Margrietje is een goede uitvalsbasis om de streek te verkennen. Na elke uitstap was het thuiskomen in dit fijne vakantiehuisje. Dankjewel voor de goede ontvangst en het mogen gebruik maken van alles. Een aanrader ! Rita en haar man zijn nabij, maar zeer discreet. Zeer lieve en vriendelijke mensen.

Het huis is gelegen aan de rand van het dorp, maar door de straat komt zeer weinig verkeer. De leefruimte ligt aan de achterzijde met zicht op een zalige tuin. Achter de tuin zijn velden. Een heel rustgevende en stille locatie!

We had a wonderful time at Rita’s place and really didn’t want to leave by the end of our stay! The house was spotless, spacious and extremely well equipped. The garden was fantastic as well and our dog loved it! Rita was very responsive to my questions during the booking phase and was available during the stay if anything else was needed. The perfect place and the perfect host! 5 stars all round 🙂

Brandschoon huisje dat volledig voldoet aan de beschrijving op de site. Rita is zeer gastvrij en ook attent. Zo waren we bijvoorbeeld iets vergeten in het huisje, hiervoor zijn we dadelijk gebeld. Een ideale uitvalsbasis om verschillende daguitstapjes te maken. Een aanrader!

Had een verblijf van 2 nachten, deze plek zou perfect zijn voor een gezin (alleen ik en manlief verbleven) Groot huis, maar wij vonden het erg koud. Er zijn slechts twee gasbranden die het huis verwarmen. Enkele instructies over het gebruik van de kookplaat en douche zouden nuttig zijn geweest. Heeft een heerlijke grote tuin en Rita was geweldig!  Het gebruik van een wasmachine/droger was een enorme bonus voor ons.

10 out of 10 for both the host and the house. For anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the area I would definitely recommend Het Margrietje. You can expect a very nice and clean house with a spacious garden, all for an excellent price. Our hostess was a nice lady who had everything well prepared for us. She also offers information on anything you’d like to know about the area. We accidentally left some of our stuff behind and she was very nice to help us get it back. This host will go the extra mile to ensure your stay is perfect.

Rita’s AirBnb is fantastic. It is perfectly situated for anyone wanting to visit the WW1 sites. There are two big double rooms, so perfect for two couples; there is even a cot and a child and dog proof garden for anyone wanting to travel with the whole family. There is also secure, private parking. The house contains absolutely everything you could want to enjoy a day or a month in this area. It turned cold whilst we were there and it was wonderful coming home each evening to our warm, cosy home-away-from-home. A bonus was the fresh eggs we found from Rita’s own chickens. There is a patisserie and supermarket within walking distance. Rita lives next door so is available if needed but she never intrudes. Her communications are quick and honest and her English is very good. We have no hesitation in recommending Rita’s accommodation, it is brilliant!

Its the little touches that make airbnb so special and this was the case here. Firstly I want to say that the communication was always super, very quick responses even on our arrival day when we were stuck in traffic and I sent a message and Rita came straight back to tell us not to worry that she would be here to greet us. The kitchen is very well equipped, infact there were more plates, glasses, ice – cream coupes etc than I have at home. So any party will be well catered for. We were also left some fresh eggs from Ritas chickens which made a love addition to our breakfast. Lastly the location is excellent ..you are only a 15 minute drive into Ypres town centre making this a great base for touring the area.

The home and host are equally wonderful. Rita is friendly, welcoming and polite; the house is cosy, comfortable and well-presented. Merkem is a quiet little village and in a great location if you want to explore the Ypres salient or have any interest in WW1 – all the key sites are nearby and if you fancy a day trip further afield to Ostend, Bruges or Ghent, nothing is too far away. We had a fabulous time in Belgium and knowing that we had this place to come back to in the evening helped make it even more fantastic.
